Test prototype for a velcro-based chestrig, distributing weight on sides, is ready, while quick-ditch buckles are not available for me.
I made (from leftovers) a base for a rig, more advanced than usual rapid-open buckle adapters for a plate carriers mentioned in concept post. Below: left side not assembled yet, right side assembled already.
The necessity for a method to attach standard buckles for a PALs platform is obvious to me. So I’ve played with an idea to combine G-hook and T-shape adapter in one accessory unit.

Simply put, it is a wrapper around PALs loop, which is fastened with DTMF closure.
Make every pouch 4 (four) PALs wide a Matroskya pouch! Just make a simple adapter and install it on soft clip:
One is less reliable, two are more reliable. So – just run two straps on adapter to two D-rings on each side:
To clarify it, I’m worrying more about reliability of clips on pouch, than the durability of D-rings.
Currently doing nothing but playing around some weird deviant concepts of loadouts.
To make and old-school ammunition belt with modern modular pieces of gear.
Single vulnerable D-ring can be replaced with adapter as Maxped D-pouch, but it increases overall cost of solution. Would be better to replace it with paracord loop or two.
Few weeks i played with an idea of a method of connecting a
heritage legacy belt pouches (including holsters) to modern modular equipment. And yesterday, oh gods, i saw a post on JTT about Jimmy Tarp’s PALS Adapter. Freaking late, but here’s mine version:
Pouch is installed, and side PALS are folded down, then the whole structure is connected to rig (pack) with separate rigid clips.
Oh, nearly forgot. Belt section height (i.e. belt width) can be 38-55 mm.

Modular surface is preferable to be continuous line-by-line, MALICE type, with no gaps between the straps. Luckily, this feature is frequently found on modular belts.
So title says it all. And I apologize for my digital painting skill, which is even worse than my English 🙂
Well, angled adapter requires much more materials and work, than it seemes from perfunctory view. It must include internal stiffener (plastic piece), and frontal and rear sides must be glued together, not only sewn align the perimeter. So it will be finished later (read – nearly never).
As my primary object was portable radio with protruding antenna, trying to poke owner’s eye, first prototype is radio pouch.
Pouch has a flap, which is not necessary, but it has not – yet – a fastener for this flap.
Making a pouch in the previously posted concept of angled modular platform, went through intermediate stage:
It works. But making is real PITA, even with really sharp knife. Need steel ruler.
Have a little time to sew, and even lost access to source ob better-looking photos. So – drawings.
Some gear is better placed not straight but with angle. For example, radios in order not to poke a user’s eye. Or some belongings placed in the way to use them really high speed (and maybe low drag) – hmmm, smoke pouch placed angled upside down ninja-operator style on the side of a pack thus conserving space on the load-bearing equipment.
I cant remember similiar solution from any manufacturer, but I believe somebody (DownRange Gear?) made 90 degrees angle adapter.
